Common conclusions
Taking a rest day —think of it differently than of taking a recovery day—because of stress or something is absolutely OK and there is no reason to feel guilty about that choice.
If your workout is thwarted by an unexpected life event or you even just simply feel like it will not serve you that day, you should just go ahead and skip it without feeling guilty or like you will have to make up for it later. Go to the event and enjoy it!
Microscopic tears in your muscles, inflammation and corresponding hormone imbalances render your body susceptible to poor performance, extreme fatigue, burnout and injury. It is so important to learn how to listen to the cues your body will give when it is in need of extra rest. That skipped workout will definitely not matter at all.
It is good. If you are sick and if your symptoms are above the neck, including a sore throat, nasal congestion and tearing eyes, then it is OK to exercise but if your symptoms are below the neck, such as coughing, body aches and fatigue, then it is time to hang up the running shoes until these symptoms subside. When you are experiencing symptoms like diarrhea, weakness, fever or a productive cough, it is also best option to rest your body and take some time off from the gym to recover.
