Do you avoid sex with anyone who has genital sores, a rash, discharge, or other symptoms?

Do you avoid sharing towels or underwear?
Do you wash before and after intercourse?
Did you get the hepatitis B vaccine?
Do you avoid having sex with different partners often or being indiscriminate in choosing sexual partners?
Do you avoid having multiple sexual partners?
Based on your answers, there are several other ways that can help you prevent STDs. It is very important to use latex condoms every time you have sex whether it is vaginal, anal or oral sex. You should talk openly with your partner about STDs, and abstain from sex if he has any symptoms such as discharge, genital sores or a rash. It is ideal to be in a monogamous relationship, while your partner and you will continue to be tested for STDs at least once a year. You should avoid sharing underwear or towels, as some STDs (e.g. crabs) can also be spread through contaminated personal items.
Based on your answers, you know a lot about how to prevent STDs. The only sure way to prevent STDs is to have no sex at all. However, reducing the number of your sexual partners can also reduce your risk of STDs. If you have multiple sexual partners, or do not always have safe sex, you will need to be tested for STDs every three to six months. Also, you should consider taking the hepatitis B vaccine, especially if you use drugs or alcohol frequently. People who are drunk or on drugs often do not reason properly and fail to have safe sex.
