Do you have difficulty hearing other people clearly and not understanding what they are saying, especially if you are in noisy places (e.g. in a restaurant)?
Do you have difficulty hearing when talking to someone on the phone?
Do you find it difficult to keep up with the conversation?
Do you ask people to repeat themselves?
Do you feel tired or stressed because you have to concentrate more during the conversation so that you can hear the person you are talking to?
Has anyone told you that you listen to music or watch television higher than it should?
Based on your answer, it can be said that you do not need a hearing test. Every adult should test their hearing at least once after the age of 21. Your doctor may check your hearing during the annual physical examination. If you do not have a hearing loss, it will be enough to continue testing every 10 years until you are 50 years old. After that, you should test your hearing more often (every 3 years). Although hearing loss most commonly affects people over the age of 65, as many as 8 million people under the age of 44 also have some form of hearing loss.
Based on your answers, you should check your hearing. If you strain to hear during a conversation or feel pain and ringing in your ears, it's time to see a doctor and ask for a screening. A hearing screening is not the same as a hearing test (which is a more comprehensive examination). This is usually a type of preliminary test. Based on the test results, your doctor will decide if you need a more detailed examination. Gradual hearing loss is usually associated with aging, while sudden hearing loss can be the result of ear infections, too much earwax, or prolonged exposure to loud noise.
