Your lizard shows one common sign of mouth rot (infectious stomatitis). Since infectious stomatitis is one of the most common diseases in reptiles it cannot be ruled out just because only one clinical sign is observed. Signs of mouth rot can vary in number and degree, depending on the stage of infection. If you suspect that your pet is unwell you should take it to the exotics veterinarian for a check-up. Often, the diagnosis of infectious stomatitis is fairly straightforward based on clinical signs, a complete blood count (CBC), and culture of mucous and/or discharge.
Your lizard shows several common signs of mouth rot (infectious stomatitis). Signs of mouth rot can vary in number and degree, depending on the stage of infection. Symptoms like purulent discharge, hypersalivation, and swelling/reddening around the mouth could certainly point to mouth rot. Take your pet to your exotics veterinarian for a check-up. Because this disease is secondary to another condition, that condition should be identified and treated at the same time the treatment of stomatitis is initiated. Without addressing the underlying condition, the infection will most likely return once treatment is terminated.
