Have you recently changed your daily routine or moved the furniture around?
Have you recently adopted a new pet or another cat?
Did you have a baby recently?
Are you meeting all your cat’s needs?
Cats are sensitive to change, and it can stress them out. A change in their routine can trigger a loss of affection in cats just because they got stressed. Give your cat some time to adjust to her new routine and her affection for you should return as she gets rid of the stress.
Adopting a new pet can cause stress or even jealousy in cats. If you have introduced a new dog to your household, this could have terrified your cat. You just have to be patient and let your cat get used to the new dog. It is a good idea to give your cat space where they know that they can go and the dog is not allowed. Introducing another cat to your home could trigger jealousy. You must ensure that both cats have all their possessions as sharing is not a good idea. Each cat will need its privacy and this includes having separate litter trays.
Cats are very unsure of new babies and it is important to make sure that you don’t ignore them. It is a good idea not to leave your cat with the baby especially once the baby is capable of grabbing a tail. Give your cat privacy and space so they can regain their confidence and adjust to the new situation in your home.
When cats are unwell, they often hide away and become reclusive. Keep an eye on other symptoms of an illness and call your veterinarian as soon as you notice that something might be wrong with your cat's health.
Cats are intelligent creatures and they are good at recognizing if their owners do not meet all their needs. Make sure that your cat always has enough food and clean water, a clean litter box, and a lot of toys to play with. Also if you are the one who recently stopped playing with your cat, this may be her giving you the same treatment.
