Common conclusions

Based on your answers it is unlikely that you have a ruptured ovarian cyst. An ovarian cyst is a sac filled with fluid that can be found in an ovary or on its surface. There are several types of ovarian cysts. The most common are so-called functional cysts, which are the result of the menstrual cycle. Functional cysts are usually harmless. They can grow and burst every month, rarely causing pain. Your body will absorb the contents of the ruptured cyst; the fluid from functional cysts can be absorbed within 24 hours. However, there are other types of cysts (dermatoid cysts, cystadenomas, endometriomas) that can cause health problems.

Based on your answers there is a possibility that you have a ruptured ovarian cyst. Ovarian cysts are extremely common. If you are a woman who is menstruating, there is a good chance that you have had an ovarian cyst at some point. It is unclear what exactly causes a cyst to rupture. The size of the cyst can be a contributing factor (large cysts burst more easily). Sex and intense exercise can also lead to rupture of the ovarian cyst. There is no specific sign that a cyst is about to burst. Diagnosing is based on your symptoms, a pelvic examination, an ultrasound and additional tests.

Based on your answers there is a high possibility that you have a ruptured ovarian cyst. Most ovarian cysts are harmless, physiological cysts that can burst to cause no symptoms or very mild ones. Ruptured cysts that cause mild pain in the lower abdomen can be easily managed with the help of pain medicines. In some cases, a ruptured cyst can cause more serious symptoms such as severe pain in the lower abdomen, bleeding and fever. If you have any of these symptoms, you should see a doctor immediately to prevent complications such as excessive bleeding or infection. Ruptured cysts can be treated with antibiotics and surgery.
