Common conclusions
If you are cleansing your skin at night and apply your skin care regime, your skin does all it’s repair work while you sleep. You are not exposed to environmental pollutants or dirt, oil or sweat so there is no need to wash your face.
If you have a toner you can skip the morning cleansing and just use that toner because a toner or toning lotion can be even better than washing in the morning. This is because your day cream penetrates better when your skin is damp but you do not want to strip your skin just to put nutrients back in. Before moisturizing and following your facial cleanser, a face toner is a quick, absorbing liquid that helps to remove excess dirt, traces of oil and makeup, correct and balance the pH of your skin, and helps control acne.
If you are using a night cream and serum, then using a cleanser will try to remove the good oil and moisture you just spent the night infusing into your skin. To make sure your skin really soaks up every last drop of that nighttime moisturizer and serum goodness, you should definitely not remove it again in the morning, because cleansers are made to help remove oil, dirt and grime.
That's OK because highly acne prone skin, or skin that has excessive oils can benefit from a good wash. For those with this type of skin cleansing in the morning with a gentle cleanser can help reduce oil.
