Based on your answers it is unlikely that you have croup. Croup is a medical condition that refers to a viral infection of the upper respiratory tract, which is characterized by difficulty breathing and a specific cough that sounds like the barking of a seal. The viruses that cause croup also cause the common cold. Croup most often occurs during the autumn and winter months, and usually affects children under the age of 5. It is usually a mild condition and in most cases can be treated at home. Croup can occur several times during childhood, and it is more common in boys than in girls.
Based on your answers there is a possibility that you have croup. Croup is a viral infection of the upper respiratory tract that leads to swelling around the vocal cords, windpipe, and bronchial tubes. The swollen airways make it difficult for air to pass through, so when you breathe, a high-pitched whistling sound (stridor) is produced. Also, when you cough, swollen vocal cords create a particular barking cough. The cough is usually worse during the night. The symptoms last for 3 to 5 days, while the cough may persist for several weeks. Usually your doctor can make a diagnosis based on a physical examination.
Based on your answers there is a high possibility that you have croup. Croup is an infection of the upper respiratory tract caused by viruses. It is a contagious condition. It can be transmitted by inhaling droplets in the air from sneezing and coughing of an infected person. If you touch surfaces contaminated with the virus and then touch your nose, eyes or mouth, you can also become infected. Treatment depends on the severity of the symptoms. In most cases, it is enough to rest and increase your fluid intake. Sometimes a doctor may prescribe medications, such as oral or inhaled corticosteroids.
