Common conclusions

If you live in a safe environment, the chances for your kids to be safe is high. That doesn't mean you should be complacent, but the possibility is less when compared to a neighborhood where crime is common. So, if you can pick a neighborhood to live, do some research online to see the crime rate in that neighborhood and move only if it is less. Some other parameters to consider are the average income of the residents, the rating of the public schools, and the average price of a single-family home.

As long as you're around your kids at all times, they should be safe. If at all you have to go out somewhere and don't have a family member who can babysit them for you, think about leaving them at a reputed daycare center. Alternatively, hire a babysitter, preferably someone you know well, to keep an eye on them when you have to step out.

Toddlers can be quite a handful to manage because they are at an age where they want to explore the world and are not willing to take no for an answer! This means, as a parent, you'll have to keep a constant watch over your children to ensure that he/she doesn't wander away or do dangerous things.

Before you post pictures of your kids online, stop for a moment to see if it is safe. While this doesn't mean no pictures at all, rather what it means, you should look at your privacy settings to see if strangers can also see your pictures. If they can, consider changing your privacy settings to ensure that only people whom you know can see your kids' pictures. This is an important part of their safety as bad guys are lurking everywhere and can quickly put things together to know your kids' location.

It is probably time to have a security system at home that will intimate you when an intruder is trying to break into your home. In fact, the presence of a top-notch security system can itself be a deterrent for any person to venture near your home. Needless to say, this greatly boosts the safety of your family.

Teach them to be aware of their surroundings and to report it, if they see something or someone following them. This can save them from many dangers, especially if they are older and don't want you to be around them at all times.

Great! Keep reiterating them to watch over their shoulders. And make sure you stay on top of their activities too without being too intrusive.
