Based on your answers it is unlikely that you are farsighted. Farsightedness, also called hyperopia, is a common vision disorder. Farsighted people can clearly see distant objects, but nearby objects appear blurred. Farsightedness is a refractive error of the eye. It occurs in people who have shorter eyeballs than normal or irregularly curved cornea. In both cases, the light cannot be refracted properly and the eye focuses the light behind the retina, resulting in a blurred vision of nearby objects. Farsightedness affects about 10 to 30 percent of people worldwide and approximately half of the people over the age of 65 have some degree of farsightedness.

Farsightedness or hyperopia is an eye condition characterized by clear vision of distant objects while nearby objects look blurry. There are several degrees of farsightedness. People with severe farsightedness can clearly see only very distant objects, while others with mild farsightedness may clearly see objects that are not so far away. Farsightedness is usually present at birth, but children often overgrow it. Farsightedness is usually inherited. People with hyperopia have difficulty with close tasks such as reading a book or a text message. A diagnosis is based on a comprehensive eye examination.

People who suffer from farsightedness have blurred vision when they look at nearby objects. Hyperopia must be diagnosed and treated in a timely manner. Severe farsightedness that is not diagnosed and treated in time can cause strabismus in children. The most common way to correct hyperopia is wearing eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, some people will choose some form of refractive surgery. There is no best treatment option. Your doctor may recommend the most appropriate treatment for you, depending on your eyes and your lifestyle.
