Based on your answers it is unlikely that you have balance problems. A balance disorder is a medical condition in which people feel unsteady or dizzy. Balance problems can make you feel like you are moving, floating or spinning when actually standing, sitting or lying down. Various body systems play a role in maintaining the balance such as your inner ear, nerves, muscles, blood vessels, eyes and heart. You may have balance problems if any of them are not working properly. People describe their balance problems differently; some have fainting spells, while others have an intense sensation of spinning. Balance problems can interfere with your daily life.
Based on your answers there is a possibility that you have balance problems. People who have a good balance are able to maintain and control the position of their body, whether they are move or remain still. Balance problems can be caused by the side effects of certain medications, head injuries or some other problems that affect your inner ear or brain. People with low blood pressure often feel dizzy when they stand up to quickly from a sitting position. The risk of balance problems increases with age. They often start suddenly for no obvious cause. A diagnosis is based on a detailed physical and neurological examination.
Based on your answers there is a high possibility that you have balance problems. People with balance problems often have dizziness or lightheadedness, or a feeling that the room revolves around them. It is a common condition, and about 15 percent of Americans have a balance or dizziness problem. This is the most common reason why older adults seek medical help. As you age, your inner ear system may deteriorate, as can the strength of your vision and hearing, which can contribute to balance problems. Treatment depends on the underlying cause. It includes balance retraining exercises, positioning procedures, diet and lifestyle changes, medications and surgery.
