One of the most common causes could be a leak of coolant due to a crack in the engine block. There could be some other cause as well so it is better to get it checked.
The cause could be a leak of transmission fluid which is being burnt by the engine. There will also be a burnt oil smell. It is better to get it checked as it could lead to further problems.
This might be due to the engine misfiring and pushing out raw fuel. You will also smell raw fuel fumes. Get the car checked as there could be many reasons for the car to misfire such as faulty spark plugs .
The problem could be as small as the exhaust being dirty and carbon getting stuck to the exhaust which is being blown outward or the the car could be burning too much fuel due to a bad air filter or some other intake components such as fuel injectors or air sensors. It is better to get the car checked in case there is a serious fault.
Grey smoke is hard to diagnose as it could mean the car is burning excess oil, the turbocharger being faulty (if any) or something else. Take the car to a mechanic and get it checked.
