As strange as this may sound, a well-groomed person tends to have more self-confidence than one who looks shabby. It is not about others and their opinions, it is all about you here. When you shower, shave, and dress-up, you feel more confident about yourself when you look in the mirror and it is sure to infuse some positivity into your day.

Negative thoughts are the biggest killer of your self-confidence as it brings a lot of doubt and uncertainty into your everyday thoughts and possibly in also the way you look at others and the world at large. When you believe that you're incapable of doing something, you'll never get better at it. In fact, self-talk can be dangerous if it adds to your negativity. Kill these thoughts immediately. As soon as a negative thought comes up, get up, and start doing something that takes your mind off, even if it is the boring cleaning job! Over time, you'll learn to block these thoughts permanently.

An important step towards building your self-confidence is to take small steps towards getting better each day. Make a list of the things you should do to be better and start working towards it, one step at a time. For example, if you want to become a singer, you can't do it overnight. But regular practice can get you there. So, make sure you have a schedule for improvement and stick to it.

None of us are perfect. We all have certain habits that we wish to change. For example, a person who is an addictive smoker may want to give it up. But that's not possible in a day. Reduce one cigarette a day and within a few months, you can be comfortably out of this habit. All that it requires is a strong will to become better and a discipline to stick to it.

Count your blessings as many people will do anything to be in your position. Understanding this aspect can bring a lot of sunshine to your life.
